Monthly Archives: December 2008

Soccer Saturday’s very own dream team landed in Liverpool for a live football debate at the Crowne Plaza, Liverpool on December 4, which Freshfield publicised.

The Legends Luncheon organised by Freshfield client, NW Corporate, and sponsored by Liverpool-based stockbrokers and investment managers, Blankstone Sington, saw the entire cast come together for the first time for a live event other than the weekly televised show.

Jeff Stelling, Phil Thompson, Charlie Nicholas, Paul Merson and Graeme Sharp will took part in a lively debate with audience members including Liverpool’s Lord Mayor, Steven Rotheram, and local and national footballing legends.

All proceeds raised will be donated to a number of local charities including the Alder Hey Imagine Appeal, The Marina Dalglish Appeal, Alzheimer’s Society and the Mersey Beat Appeal.

Christmas pudding ice cream media drop

Dressed rather fetchingly as a giant Christmas pudding, Freshfield’s Laura McLaren escorted Manchester City’s top chef, John Benson-Smith, to media houses across Manchester this Christmas.

The pudding drop featured a dash across the city offering some of John’s Christmas pudding ice cream to journalists at the MEN, Century Radio, X FM, Key 103, Magic, BBC Manchester, Crain’s and The Business Desk.

The ice cream was created as a lighter alternative after a heavy turkey dinner but with all the flavour of the traditional dessert.

After spreading festive cheer to Manchester’s media scene, the duo donated the leftover ice cream to their Man United loving taxi driver. He said it more than made up for all the stick he got driving City’s new signing round – a giant Christmas pud!

We’d like to pay a special thank you to all our clients, media friends, business contacts and suppliers for your support during 2008. Your contribution to Freshfield is always appreciated.

As a round-off to 2008, we’re inviting you to put your creative Christmas copywriting juices to the test in our annual caption competition. The winner will receive a meal for two at an Olive Press of your choice in the north west.

Please email your captions for the photo above tohello@freshfield.com. The photo of ‘ye sleepy Freshfielders’ was taken following the Freshfield secret Santa exchange…

The Freshfield media relations machine went into action this month to raise awareness of the UK’s first ten official ‘GreenEarth’ stores for Johnson Cleaners.

The UK’s number one dry cleaning company was re-launching ten of its 520 branches with green signage and shop-fronts, to highlight its environmentally-friendly GreenEarth technology.

Eye-catching launch photography and special guests – including the mayor of Dorchester and David O’Leary in Harrogate – helped the national campaign generate 39 media hits in titles across the UK reaching 1.3 million people.

Freshfield won over sports presenters, football commentators and even motor racing legend, Murray Walker, when it launched the ‘Derby Tart’. The canapé, created by Manchester City’s top chef, John Benson-Smith (pictured), was served as a pre-match nibble to hospitality guests attending the Manchester derby at Eastlands, last month.

Featuring only red and blue ingredients including a blend of strong blue cheeses, fiery red onions and the infamous red coated Edam, the Derby Tart made appearances on Soccer AM, where its presenters Helen Chamberlain and Max Rushden gave it a live taste test, together with Murray Walker who described it as ‘sensational’. The Tart also made its way into studios and press boxes on derby day itself securing coverage on Sky Sports News, BBC Radio Manchester, XFM, Channel M, Insider and much more.
