A national healthcare cleaning organisation, based in Lancashire, has appointed PR and marketing communications consultancy Freshfield to manage an integrated programme of activity.

Jigsaw Cleaning Systems, based in Preston, distributes a range of cleaning products to the healthcare industry and is launching a national initiative, campaigning for a cleaner and leaner healthcare sector. Jigsaw is also a national distributor for Wetrok Ltd, a global supplier of commercial and industrial cleaning equipment.

As part of its programme of activity, Freshfield will be looking at media relations, community engagement, partnering and social media.

To launch the campaign, Freshfield has developed a blog which highlights issues facing healthcare organisations and features regular articles from leading names in the industry, with sector statistics and opinion polls. (more…)

Freshfield is celebrating a year of working with Roundhouse Properties, a company which we have helped create a distinct brand and corporate profile.

Roundhouse Properties is a family-run business that has been in operation for more than 25 years. The successful property company offers industrial and commercial office space combined with a flexible and hands-on approach unlike most traditional landlords. It is this approach that has helped its clients grow and keep occupancy levels high when compared with regional and national averages.

Working with the family, Freshfield has devised a brand that is powerful, vibrant and is line with their values. We’ve also successfully developed a new website with ongoing search engine optimisation, conducted e-marketing campaigns, developed a suite of marketing collateral for its developments all of which is complemented by an offline and online PR campaign.

The next challenge is to successfully communicate to potential tenants that its latest £8 million development is now in progress. We’ve made a start by securing coverage in the Financial Times. (more…)

As a prominent Northwest PR and marketing communications consultancy, Freshfield is often approached by companies totally confused about who and what they are.

It may seem a straightforward proposition, but being able to clearly tell the world why they need to think of you is a major challenge.

In a 24/7 mass media world, failing to capture the attention of your audience straight away is a missed opportunity.

This places great importance on defining your message simply and clearly at the start of any communications programme. Don’t be subtle, don’t be too clever, just tell it like it is. If your audience needs to work hard to understand the message, you’re getting it wrong. (more…)

Steve Kuncewicz, digital media lawyer at HBJ Gateley Wareing, discusses the future of celebrity tweets following a crackdown by the Office of Fair Trading.

While celebrity endorsement of products and services is nothing new, social media is providing a new way for the rich and famous to make themselves and their commercial partners even richer.

Given that Twitter in particular creates a direct connection between the twitterati and their fans, big brands have learnt that a celebrity tweet can be priceless. (more…)

It’s unlikely Sian Massey, the unassuming female assistant referee caught up in the football sexism scandal, woke up yesterday expecting to see her face on the front of The Sun.

But it’s there, nonetheless – and it’s not an official photograph. The Sun has obtained a photograph apparently showing Miss Massey letting her hair down at a party – a stark contrast to the businesslike, ponytailed figure officiating over top football matches. (more…)

The race is truly on for new energy sources, as the drilling for shale gas in Blackpool demonstrates.

However, with these projects come huge challenges, not least how the developers communicate with local communities through the rigorous planning process.

Indeed, the Localism Bill – which should be passed through Parliament by the end of this year – will fundamentally decentralise control of planning developments from central and regional government to local authorities and local neighbourhoods. (more…)

We have a number of big football fans in the Freshfield office, all of whom have been fascinated by the latest Twitter in football controversies over the past few weeks.

For those not aware, in a first of its kind, Liverpool FC footballer Ryan Babel has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association after posting a picture (above) of an altered image of a referee wearing a rival’s football shirt, Manchester United, after a contentious meeting between the two sides.
