Freshfield has helped complete the first stage of a public consultation on the future of Winckley Square.

The consultation is being run by the Winckley Square Community Interest Company (WSCIC), which Freshfield advises on a pro-bono basis.

Over 200 people took part in the online Have Your Say questionnaire with the majority of respondents demanding a simple and sympathetic restoration.

Freshfield developed the WSCIC brand identity and website in October 2011, when the company was formed to help drive the revival of Preston’s historic Georgian square. It also provides PR and social media support. (more…)

Daniel Milnes (left), partner and head of business law at North West law firm, Forbes, scooped the 2012 Freshfield Flat Cap Award at last night’s Insider Dealmaker Awards.

The Flat Cap Award celebrates the personality of the regional corporate finance community.

Daniel Milnes commented: “I’m grateful to the judges and to Insider for the Flat Cap award which is a good illustration of how in this part of the dealmaking world we do get to know each other and combine professionalism with personality.”

Freshfield, has been appointed by information management business, IBEX, following a competitive pitch.

IBEX, which is based in Preston, provides document storage, records management, digital scanning and data backup and recovery services to organisations across the North.

Freshfield will deliver an integrated campaign focusing on communicating IBEX’s sector credentials as well as supporting its nationwide group development strategy.

IBEX sector groups include legal, financial services, healthcare, government and education.

Simon Turner, managing director, said: “We’ll utilise our skills in offline and digital PR, direct marketing and digital marketing to position IBEX as service leaders in its core markets.

“IBEX is an ambitious business with a national expansion remit and targeted communications will support this strategy. It’s a great fit for Freshfield.”

Preston PR and marketing communications consultancy, Freshfield, has recruited Mark Wilson as its branding and design team continues to grow.

Mark has joined the firm as a branding and design executive from Blackpool and the Fylde College, where he was an in-house designer overseeing on the College’s external marketing collateral.

Freshfield has recruited Danny Hooton to its branding and design team following a host of new instructions.

Danny has joined the firm as a branding and design executive from PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he occupied an in-house design role in Vancouver, Canada.

Freshfield managing director, Simon Turner, said: “We’ve been working with a lot of organisations in the last two years on brand repositioning and development and this specialist aspect of our business continues to grow.

Freshfield has been shortlisted in the Best Media Relations Campaign category for the 2011 How-Do Public Services Communications Awards.

Freshfield has been recognised for its work to promote the 2011 SPAR Lancashire Youth Games – the largest youth sports programme in the county.

The Games feature 112 district finals and nine county finals, including a special schools’ swimming gala and the high-profile SPAR Lancashire Disability Youth Games, bringing together more than 10,000 primary school pupils from 14 local authority districts.

The media relations campaign is devised to encourage more young people to take part in the Games. As part of a six-month campaign, Freshfield was briefed to help gain £100,000 worth of media coverage and to ensure events from all 14 local and unitary councils across Lancashire were profiled. Freshfield has won a global contract to promote Super-Click – dubbed the most versatile click-flooring system in the world.

Following a competitive pitch, Freshfield was handed the brief to help Lancashire-based Super-Click International, which manages the Super-Click brand, build relationships with flooring distributors in the key territories of Asia, Central and South America, the Middle East, Africa and Australasia.

Super-Click is one of the world’s most versatile LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) floating floor systems. It differs from other flooring thanks to a unique locking mechanism, offering superior locking strength combined with ease and speed of installation.

Freshfield is advising Super-Click International on brand development, while a traditional and digital PR campaign will focus on supporting Super-Click’s presence at four key flooring trade exhibitions in Dubai, Hannover, Las Vegas and Shanghai. Freshfield has become a founding member of a company aiming to drive the revival of the Preston’s historic Winckley Square.

Winckley Square Community Interest Company (WSCIC) has the backing of Preston City Council, Lancashire County Council and other land owners of the Square.

The Business Improvement District (BID) has pledged an initial £30,000 in 2011 and a further £150,000 over five years should it secure a second five-year term in December 2011.

WSCIC’s founding members and elected directors include: David Gill, consultant, Moore and Smalley Chartered Accountants; Simon Turner, managing director, Freshfield; Mick Goode, director, Croft Goode Architects; John Chesworth, managing partner, Harrison Drury; Richard McDowell, partner, Napthens; and Mark Clarkson, partner, Eckersley. The summer edition of Bottom Line features an exclusive interview with Edwin Booth, the chairman of Booths Supermarkets, who offers an insight into his career and some tips from the top. In Spring, we featured Matthew Riley, founder and chief executive officer of Daisy Group plc.

Bottom Line goes to over 6,000 businesses across the region, offering finance and business advice to FDs and directors. Freshfield writes and designs the publication as part of Moore and Smalley’s thought leadership strategy.

Assisting the PR team on a range of business-to-business and business-to-consumer programmes, the role would be perfect for either a PR or journalism graduate.

The role will primarily include writing / content generation, media relations, social media, client relations and administration support.

Accomplished writing skills are essential. Applicants must also have a good understanding of social media, strong organisational skills, a creative mind, excellent customer service skills and the drive to go that extra mile. Experience of developing online content such as podcasts and videos would be an advantage.
