The Winckley Square Grill Room
One of Lancashire’s premier dining experiences, The Winckley Square Grill Room (also known as The Chop House) is one of local celebrity chef Paul Heathcote’s best known venues.
Critic Jay Rayner declared a visit to this eaterie as ‘a lovely meal, at a reasonable price, in a fine city’ and we wouldn’t disagree with any of this summary. An extensive menu featuring plenty of local produce in a contemporary setting.
If The Grill Room stretches the budget a little too much, head downstairs to the charming Olive Press in the basement. Classic and tasty dishes served well.
It’s the only place we know in Lancashire that serves Barcelona’s Estrella Damm on draught, therefore expect to see some Freshfielders there at 5pm on a Friday!
