Freshfield’s retail PR team rose to the challenge in promoting a sought-after £2 million collection of watches for independent Blackpool jewellers, Leonard Dews. The family-owned business was the only jeweller’s in Lancashire to gain approval to host the exclusive Patek Philippe collection during its UK tour last week. Each model had vital working parts removed for display, for security reasons. The week-long campaign secured interviews on regional and local radio as well as coverage in regional lifestyle and business press.
Masterchef presenter, Gregg Wallace, was the star of the show on Saturday when he was guest at Cassis Restaurant at Stanley House Hotel in Mellor.
Having hosted a ‘Ladies Who Lunch’ event at Stanley House last Christmas, Gregg returned by popular demand to team up with Cassis head chef Steven Smith to treat 50 guests to a gourmet evening to remember. Freshfield’s leisure and hospitality team was on hand to promote the event which celebrated the natural abundance and quality produce of Lancashire’s Ribble Valley.

Hot off the Freshfield press is the summer edition of The Adviser, the quarterly magazine of financial advisory group, Taylor Patterson. This edition we have produced a comprehensive special feature surrounding the UK pension market.

We have just created a range of new marketing tools for the North West Aerospace Alliance (NWAA) in preparation for its attendance at the Paris International Air Show.
In addition to writing and designing a new magazine for the NWAA, our digital team has also created a new blog (www.nwaablog.com) which will be used as the Alliance’s official online voice during the show, providing a range of comment and analysis.
Our PR team – recently appointed by the NWAA – has also been co-ordinating the media strategy for Paris, ensuring it generates a range of targeted pre, during and post event publicity.

Over 2,000 businesses across the north west will receive a copy of our latest newsletter for Pierce Group – the Blackburn-based award winning accountancy and business advisory group. Freshfield writes and designs three Pierce publications a year. This issue covers a breadth of advisory pieces aimed at helping Pierce’s clients and prospects through the recession.

AFC Freshfield has qualified for the finals of the Taylor Patterson All Stars Soccer Tournament. The charity event is being held on June 16 at Fylde Rugby Club and will comprise ten 5-a-side teams competing in a Champions League style group stage and subsequent knockout format.
AFC Freshfield player manager Andrew Taylor said: “We’ve not won a game yet but that will not dent our confidence. We are a new team and have brought in some fresh faces of late but we are starting to gel as unit and confident we can raise a few eyebrows.” Freshfield’s tournament preparations start with a friendly against the AFC Freshfield ladies team. Andrew added: “We need a confidence boost!”

Good marketing, planning and PR can significantly increase the value of a business when selling. This was the main message born out of the final installment of the Freshfield-sponsored Lancashire Business Week, held at UCLan’s Media Factory on selling your business. North West Business Insider editor, Michael Taylor, sat on the Question Time style panel with Lancaster entrepreneur, Trevor Bargh, and our very own MD, Simon Turner. The event kicked off with a seminar on selling your business by Rob Kenmare of Moore and Smalley Chartered Accountants and Keith Melling of DWF Solicitors.

Freshfield freelance designer, Andy Dixon, made an outstanding debut in an AFC Freshfield side that gave another determined yet losing display in hot conditions against Yorkshire Bank Preston.
In temperatures reminiscent of ‘Mexico 86’ the end-to-end action saw the scoreline reach 3-3 in a matter of seconds. Yorkshire Bank added another two late in the second half to go in 5-3 leaders at half time, but The Swallows, galvanized by new signing Dixon, hit straight back after the break with two goals in quick succession to leave the game tied at 5-5.
As the game entered its third act, the boys from the bank stretched their lead again to 9-5, but Freshfield refused to roll over and pulled three goals back to set up a nail-biting finish. The Swallows, however, could not find the equaliser their play deserved and as they pushed bodies forward, Yorkshire Bank caught them on the break running out 15-12 winners.
Freshfield’s goals were scored by Andy Taylor (4), Simon Turner (4), Kieran Howlett (2), Michael Stanley and Andy Dixon.
