Freshfield has been retained to provide PR support for the county’s most high-profile youth sports competition for the third year running.

Freshfield will provide a media relations campaign for the 2011 SPAR Lancashire Youth Games, organised by the Lancashire Sport Partnership, the strategic county sports partnership for Lancashire.

The Youth Games programme represents the pinnacle of school sport in the county, with talented young competitors fighting off strong competition in their district to compete at county level.

The Youth Games has been expanded again this year to include 112 district finals and nine county finals, including a special schools’ swimming gala and the SPAR Lancashire Disability Youth Games.

The events will bring together more than 10,000 pupils from hundreds of primary schools across 14 local authority districts.

Adrian Leather, chief executive of Lancashire Sport Partnership, added: “Year-on-year we have seen an increase in children participating in the events and Freshfield has done a tremendous job raising the awareness and profile of the games. We are delighted to be partnering with them again in 2011.”

Simon Turner, managing director of Freshfield, said: “Effective PR is very important in sharing the success of the Games and driving participation levels. The team is really looking forward to working on what is a very rewarding project.”

The first county event, tag rugby, will take place on Wednesday March 9 at Preston Grasshoppers. VIPs from across the county will attend including representatives from Lancashire Sport Partnership and the event sponsors, James Hall & Company Ltd, SPAR distributor for the North of England.
