How we helped:

  • Communications strategy and advice
  • Content creation
  • Media relations
  • Website development
  • Case studies

The Lancashire Colleges (TLC) appointed Freshfield to raise awareness of the opportunities available under the Department for Education’s new Strategic Development Fund (SDF) Pilot to explore how education providers can work more effectively with employers and other partners to respond to local skills and innovation needs, as well as tackling the zero-low carbon agenda.

Working to a tight timeframe, Freshfield’s initial priority was to design and develop a new website for TLC as a central communications hub for SMEs looking for support. This was delivered within eight weeks.

Simultaneously, the Freshfield PR and Communications team led a regional media relations programme highlighting the opportunities and benefits to SMEs and giving a call to action to get involved.

Within two months more than 300 SMEs had been engaged in the initiative, with several new courses being created. Activity is ongoing with colleges working closely with businesses across the county designing programmes to help develop the skills for current and future workforces, which will be delivered in a number of new skills centres featuring state-of-the-art technology.

The campaign is helping to put Lancashire on the map nationally as a leader in the development of education and employer partnerships and tackling zero-low carbon challenges.

“Freshfield successfully created the campaign in an extremely challenging timeframe and we’re delighted with the result. They are also delivering on raising awareness of the programme through the media, partners, and the colleges themselves. Thank you.”
