Joe’s side victorious as Freshfield fantasy football league raises £300 for charity
It was tight at the top as the third season of the Freshfield charity fantasy football league came to an end, with a new champion crowned.
Joe Davis of Pegasus Group clinched victory with his side ‘Is Your Motherwell?’ finishing top of the Serie F league with an impressive 2,537 points. He narrowly beat 2021/22’s champion Alex Walmsley (Harrison Drury Solicitors) into second place, with just 17 points separating the two sides.
The league was set up for exclusive entry to Freshfield staff, clients and partners, with the managers of both the first and last placed teams winning a £150 donation on their behalf to a charity of choice.
Last year’s champion Daniel Boulton (WHN Solicitors) finished a respectable third, while on the Freshfield front Joel Durkin fared best scraping sixth, with only Simon Turner the other FF manager able to break into the top 10, narrowly avoiding mid-table mediocrity and placing ninth.
While at the other end of the league, his side might know their alphabet, but Wayne Blinkhorn’s (Legmark Ltd) ABCDE FC finished last place on 1,647 points, sparing Jen Peacock’s (Freshfield) blushes as Jenfica settled for second bottom.
Joe made his donation to The Trussel Trust, while Wayne chose the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity.
Sally French, Finance and Workplace Manager at Freshfield, said: “It’s been another brilliant year of the Freshfield charity fantasy league, with competition at an all-time high and only a handful of points separating the teams at the top.
“Well done to Joe and Wayne, who have chosen two great charities to make a difference to with their donations.”
We’ll be sharing details of the 2023/24 league later this summer. For more information in the meantime, please contact Sally French.
