The Freshfield team will be walking from home while working from home during lockdown, to help Preston charity, Luv Preston, run essential drop-in centres and provide food parcels throughout the city over winter.

The team has volunteered to rack up the miles throughout the week with walks and runs, with Freshfield making a donation based on the total miles accrued.

Luv Preston is a local charity run by Susan and Jack McVicar which aims to love and serve the city of Preston by providing care and support to those who find themselves disadvantaged and disconnected in the community.

The team provides essential services including a homeless drop-in at St Wilfrid’s Community Centre, just off Winckley Square in Preston and the running of a food bank and provision of food parcels across the city.

Simon Turner, our Chief Executive, said: “Luv Preston, like so many charities in the city, is doing an amazing and crucial job, a job that has been made more challenging due to the pandemic.

“When we came across the charity, we were keen to help out. Due to lockdown, we had to look at creative ways to raise money and as we are encouraging our team to keep active during the week, we thought it was a good idea to turn our wellness activities into fundraising ones.”

Jack McVicar, founder of Luv Preston, said: “We are so grateful to Freshfield for being willing to raise funds for our foodbank and drop-in. It’s great when companies like Freshfield join with us to serve the disadvantaged and hurting in our city.”

The #WalkFromHome challenge will end on December 4.

A Just Giving page has been created which can be found here. All donations will be greatly welcome.
